Arithmetic Bubbles
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
The game is part of the Global Game Jam 2025 in Athens, Greece.
It is designed for children in the first grades of primary school to practice arithmetic operations. Each exercise is a quiz, where avatars present possible answers in bubbles. The game interacts with a backend server that verifies the accuracy of the answers and generates new exercises. Currently, the exercises are generated randomly. However, we plan to introduce algorithms in the future to assess each student's knowledge level and provide personalized exercises.
The system consists of two applications. One is the front part, which provides the UI that the user interacts with, and its source code is located at https://github.com/spyros-papadimitriou/arithmetic-bubbles-front.
The second part is the back, which provides API endpoints for creating exercises and receiving answers from the first part. Its source code is located at https://github.com/spyros-papadimitriou/arithmetic-bubbles-back.
Java, 17 Spring Framework, and MariaDB database were used for the back-end part.
